What is light?

Light is a form of electromagnetic radiation within a certain portion of the

electromagnetic spectrum. The word usually refers to visible light, which is
visible to the human eye and is responsible for the sense of sight.
What is darkness?

Darkness, the polar opposite to brightness, is understood to be the condition of a

very small amount or even an absence of visible light. Humans are unable to
distinguish color in conditions of either high brightness or darkness. In conditions
of insufficient light, perception is achromatic and ultimately, black.
