Introduction

In all its varied forms, the uses for bamboo are endless: striking, stand-alone
specimen plants, a low variegated border, groundcover, accent plants in
pots on a deck, an interesting entryway, an Asian look for Japanese
gardens, and so on.
By far the most popular use of bamboo is as fast-growing privacy screens
and evergreen hedges. Since bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants
on the planet, bamboo screens and hedges can be created more quickly
and inexpensively. Almost all can be used for effective screening, given
that it will grow to the desired height, properly matched climate and
planting area for cold hardiness.
Type of Bamboo for Landscape

There are six main groups for bamboo:

1. Hardy clumping bamboo
Non-invasive bamboo, 8 to 25 feet tall
grow in tight clusters, creating dense and decorative screens
2. Timber bamboo
Tall Phyllostachys over 30 feet tall
Classic woody-caned bamboo grows large canes for timber,
edible shoots, or tall screens
Type of Bamboo for Landscape

3. Mid-sized running bamboo

Shorter Phyllostachys usually 20 to 30 feet tall.
Great for ornamental privacy screens. Some types are very cold hardy.

4. Other genera of mid-sized running bamboo

including Pseudosasa, Chimonobambusa, Arundinaria, Semiarundinaria, etc.

5. Small running bamboo and groundcover

including Sasa, Shibataea, Indocalamus, Pleioblastus, Sasaella, etc.

6. Cold-sensitive clumping bamboo for mild climates

including Bambusa, Otatea, Himalayacalamus. etc.
Bamboo Requirement

Type of soil
o Any type of soil. Mostly grows in the problematic soil.
o At least the land must have good drainage system.

Type of propagation
o Seedlings (rarely use, since the production of seeds are not frequent and hard to fine good
seeds)
o Using the young plant after the shoot had been taken
o Tissue culture in laboratory
o Vegetative (easier to propagate)
Bamboo Requirement

Water requirement
For the new planted plant, the plant should be watered at least two times daily.
It is to avoid the plant from dying.

Fertilizer
Use NPK Green 5:15:15 and Organic Fertilizer
Apply once every 3 months.
Use around 100-300 kg/ha.
