DEFINITION

• The term “child labour” is often defined as work that deprives children of
their childhood, their potential and their dignity, and that is harmful to
physical and mental development. (ILO, 2012)
• The employment of a child in a business or industry especially in violation
of state or federal statutes prohibiting the employment of children under a
specified age (Merriam-Webster, 1817)
