Introduction
Definition:
the discipline associated with control of generation, storage, collection, transport or transfer,
processing and disposal of solid waste materials.

 Solid waste management includes planning, administrative, financial,

engineering and legal functions.

 Solid waste management practices can differ for residential and industrial
producers, same goes to a developed and developing nations.

 With the development of modern civilization, getting rid of waste alone is

insufficient as is translated to pollution and an unsustainable development.
Problem Statement
 How waste is handled ever since human began to build large
communities within a designated area.
 How does Waste - to - Energy system operates.

Objectives
 To understand how Waste – to – Energy(WTE) plant works.
 To analyse the effectiveness of WTE compared to the system before.
Literature Review
 Municipal Waste Sorting
- Municipal waste sorting is a way to sort waste products.
- It is suitable for a variety of domestic waste treatment
process program.
Literature Review
Marine Assets Corporation (MAC) in Poland
- MAC proposed a simple solution to produce Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) from
raw waste in households.
- Advantage of MAC is no need to sort waste.
- MAC will release Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) which is an disadvantages.
- The composition of RDF is same as raw waste.
- Burning RDF in a house would result in a high emission of toxic substances,
which are emitted from the combustion of plastics.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Waste to Energy Plant
Conclusion
Based on the above statements, it can be concluded
that :
 Waste-to-energy plant helps Malaysia handle waste
in an efficient and productive way.

 Amount of waste can be reduced by 85%.

 Waste-to-energy plant is advantageous to us and

should be practiced.
Other Suggestion
 By implementing and practicing 3R ( Reduce, Reuse and Recycle )

Advantage of 3R
Saves energy and money
Prevents pollution
Reduces energy consumption

Helps sustain the environment for future generations

Reduce greenhouse gases that leads to global climate

change
Conserves natural resources

Cuts down amount of waste in landfill sites
