Competency 8:

Intervene with Individuals, Families,

Groups, Organizations, and
Communities
By: DeAndrea Crockwell
8.1 Critically choose and implement interventions to
achieve practice goals and enhance
capacities of clients and constituencies

Grade Intervention Program

 Interventions:
organization, checklist, 4 or
more assignments a week
8.2 Apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment,
person-in-environment, and other multidisciplinary theoretical
frameworks in interventions with clients and constituencies
 (P.I.E. and Strenths theory) All of the students in my grade group would be classified as
economically disadvantaged students. Many of them come from homes in which
education is not a top priorty or highly valued. Some of them lacked the neccessary
items they needed to be able to complete homework at home.
 This is why I chose organization as my main focus when it came to improving their
grades.
 I helped them to become more organized by providing them with binders, pocket
dividers, homework sleeves and colored pencils.
 Checklist- I found and printed out lists of all of the missing assignments they have from
each class.
 I had them to go through the list and mark which ones they need, and obtained any
resources they needed to complete those assignments.
8.4 and 8.5 Use inter-professional collaboration as
appropriate to achieve beneficial practice
outcomes.Negotiate, mediate, and advocate with and
on behalf of diverse clients and constituencies.

 I accomplished this by working with my supervisor to get

access to all of their grades. I then had to advocate,
negotiate, and mediate with their teachers so that they
would be able to turn in their late work.
8.6 Facilitate effective transitions and
endings that advance mutually agreed-on
goals.

 The end of 3rd Quarter is March 26th. Everyone in

group should have turned in all of their work by
that time. After next week they start off with a
completely fresh slate and start the program all
over again.
