This document discusses competency 3 of advancing human, social, economic, and environmental justice. It identifies three needs - a lack of education on laws, food insecurity, and a lack of positive role models. To address these needs, the author proposes advocating for a "Day of Kindness" to promote social justice, finding new food resources to address economic justice, and creating a mentoring group pairing younger students with older role models to promote environmental justice. The document states these efforts will engage practices that advance social, economic, and environmental justice.

Environmental Justice By: Deandrea Crockwell Apply understanding of social, economic, 3.1: and environmental justice to advocate for human rights at the individual and systems level NEED 1- Social Justice – Lack of Education on Laws Advocate by hosting “ A Day of Kindness” NEED 2 – Economic Justice – Food Insecurity Advocate by finding new resources that can provide/donate food for students (and families if possible) NEED 3 – Environmental Justice – Lack of Positive Role Models Advocate by heading a group that pairs eight grade youth (at all stages on the at-risk continuum) with a mentor from the high school. Through this I hope that those youth are able to make strides in positive social behaviors and make a smooth transition to the high school. 3.2 Engage in practices that advance social, economic, and justice
Byprocuring resources, providing
information, and obtaining positive role models for the students I will be engaging in all of these practices.
