Year 6: Confirmation

Trinity College
School Prayer – Prayer
to Edmund Rice

O God, we thank you for the life of

Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present
in those oppressed by poverty and
injustice.
May we follow his example of faith
and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion
of Edmund
As we seek to live lives of love and
service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord,
Amen

Confirmation

 The confirmation will take place in Term 3, Week 6,

Saturday
 Students are expected to wear their full school uniforms.
 The mass will take place from 12pm to 2pm.
 Students will need to have chosen a sponsor, and they
need to be present for the sacrament.
Confirmation

 The Holy Spirit is first introduced to a Catholic the day

that they are baptized, because the entire Holy Trinity —
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — are invoked at the
ceremony.
 During Confirmation, God the Holy Spirit comes upon the
person, accompanied by God the Father and God the Son,
just as he did at Pentecost to the followers of Jesus.
 This sacrament is called Confirmation because the faith
given in Baptism is now confirmed and made strong.
Empowered by the Spirit

 During this unit students will learn:

 Wondering at the creator and our souls.
 Inner strength is something that people have to work
on.
 Acting as God would have wanted
 The heroic soul of Jesus
 Pentecost and the sharing of the Holy Spirit.
What can you do at home?

 To nurture your childs faith you can:

 Encourage them to reflect on times they used inner
strength for good
 Wondering with them about God and the creation of a
soul
 Inviting them to talk about what they are learning in
school
 Sharing memories from your own Confirmation
 Sharing gospel stories about Jesus
