 Tubing Size, Weight & Thread type (X-over & Drill
Collars)

 Fishing Diagram
 Back up (Spare elements, O-rings, Slips, …) – Best
is to have a second tool ready to go
 Function Test
 Pop Joints (Avoid long stick ups)
 Physical Check (X-over)
 Scraper run, Perforations blur will damage the
elements

2- Never hang a String with a loose
connection
 Specially while hanging a heavy string down-
hole (Hurricane/ DLT jobs)

3- Minimum Left Hand Turns
 Never exceed 3 left hand turns
 While unlatching RBP start with 1 turn and
proceed with 1/4 turns
 If failed after 3 left hand turns do 5 right hand
turns and repeat
 Exception: Storm Valve

4- Surface Handling
 Never put slips around packer body
 Connect a 5’ Pop Joint on top of the tool

5- Signals At The Tool
 Signals at surface may differ from signals the
tool receives down-hole
 Send Big Signals specially in deep/ deviated
wells
 To make sure Positrieve safety position pick
up as much as derrick lets

6- Up Weight & Down Weight
 Record and mark up weight and down weight
of the string and the distance between them
before trying to set the tool

7- Don’t Rely On Your Memory
 Write down all steps of the job in a tally book
and take it during the job
 Mark setting depth and other important points
on the tubing
 record all job data

8- Have Your Eyes On the Weight
Indicator
 M/D is the only indicator in setting a tool
 Notice and record all changes on M/D during
the job

9- Tight Top To Down
 Tightening a connection on the rig floor may
unscrew upper connections
 While tightening a string mark and have your
eyes on upper joints

10- Let the elements relax
 As soon as the tool is unset before pulling up
let the rubber elements relax for 5 to 10
minutes.
