Nehru Centre for performing Arts


Introduction
• The National Centre for the Performing Arts is a multi-venue, multi-purpose cultural centre, which aims to
promote and preserve India's heritage of music, dance, theatre, film, literature and photography. It also
presents new and innovative work in the performing arts field.
• A multi-use performance space that is intended for use by various types of the performing arts, including
dance, music and theatre.

Need
• Enhancing economic development and providing new opportunities for local businesses while attracting
upscale employees to the area
• Attracting more visitors by providing more entertainment opportunities
• Connecting people of all ages and cultures through the magic of live performances
Aim
• The aim is to design and plan a centre to promote understanding and unity among the different
communities of the world by studying and promoting their culture.

Objective
• To promote classical, traditional and contemporary performing and visual arts.
• Developing a performing arts centre providing the required areas and infrastructure to be able to display
and promote the art.
Scope & Limitations
• Integrated facility for teaching and performing arts.
• Focus on multiple use of one space, convertible spaces mostly for community and public interaction.
The thesis will be limited to the architectural designs of the building.
