We can make a difference.

Global Warming
 Global warming started during the industrial
revolution and it will cause many problems in the
future if we do not stop it.
Basic Idea
 Global warming is an
increase in
temperature on the
Earth’s surfaces and
oceans.
 The Earth’s
temperature has
increased 0.3
-0.6C˚over the past
100 years.
Causes
 Global warming is caused by greenhouse effect and
fossil fuel emissions.
 Most of it is from human activities such as factories,
cars, and pesticides being used.
 Other Factors includes littering, and wasting
resources.
Effects
 The rise in Earths temperature will cause the
North Pole to melt.
 There will also be more severe weather
because the climates will change.
Global Warming in the
Past Century
 We might not be aware but global warming has
caused many damages to our Earth over the past
century.
Hurricane Katrina
 Global warming means
warmer sea temperature
which will cause more
intense storms.
 An example of an
intense storm is
Hurricane Katrina which
brought major damages
to New Orleans,
Louisiana in august
2006.
Greenland is Melting.
 As you can see from the
picture to the left, a big
chunk of Greenland has
melted in just thirteen
years.

 The heating of the Earth

will continue to melt the
ice and bring a big
impact on us in the
future.
Crop Failure
 Global warming will
bring heat waves to
many areas and it will
kill the crops.
 As of October 12, 2010,
United States is
experiencing drought
conditions in many areas
which is caused by
global warming.
Global Warming Future Impacts
 Global Warming will bring us many major damages
in the future.
 If we do not stop global warming, global warming
will stop us.
Sea Levels Rising = Flooding
 Every ten years, sea
levels rise about one
inch and it will not stop.
 In the future, the city of
San Francisco will be
flooded because the sea
water will rise above the
city’s elevation and we
must leave the city.
Extinction of Animals
 Many animals will die
because of the climate
change.
 Not all animals can
adapt to their new
climate of warmer
weather.
 Disease can also spread
due to migrating insects.
Resources Limited
 The population is
increasing everyday
which means more
resources such as energy
and wood are being
used.
 If we continue to build
new houses and cars,
global warming will
worsen and cause more
damages.
Global Warming Prevention
 Global Warming can be prevented from many
different ways.
 We can all help out and save our beautiful Earth
from damages.
Recycle and Reuse
 Recycling can save trees and  Reusing grocery bags can save
many other resources. All we plastic which can damage and
have to do is to put our trash pollute our Earth. When you go
into the correct bins. to Safeway, use your old bags to
put the groceries into.
Ride a Bike
 San Francisco is a
bicycle friendly city
with 45 miles of bike
lanes and 35 more
coming soon. There is
even a bicycle traffic
signal. We should use
this advantage to ride
our bikes to work or
school instead of
driving.
Solar Panels
 Installing solar panels
on the roof not only
saves us money but
will also save our
Earth.
 Solar Panel uses the
suns energy to
produce electricity for
your house which is
very conservative to
our environment.
Conclusion
 Global Warming is damaging our Earth
every second and we must try our best to
stop it before it becomes a major impact on
our lives in the future.
