Euthanasia and the PA Code of Ethics

 Health, Safety, Welfare, and Dignity of Human Beings

 While PA’s are not expected to ignore their own personal values, ethical
standards, or the law, they must not allow their personal beliefs to restrict
patient access to care
 If any of these beliefs prevent a PA from offering full range of treatments
available or care the patient desires, then the PA has an ethical duty to refer a
patient to another qualified provider
 PA should provide patients with opportunity to plan for end of life care
 PA’s should not participate in executions because to do so would violate
the ethical principle of beneficence
