US & IRAN Sanctions

 The first Sanctions were imposed in November 1979.
 The sanctions also included freezing about $12 billion
Iranian assets, including bank deposits, gold and other
properties.
History  These sanctions were lifted as part of the Algiers
Accords which was a negotiated settlement of the
hostages’ release.
 After Iran’s invasion of Iraq in 1984, US imposed ban
on weapon sale to Iran.
 US reintroduced sanction on Iran in 1987 after Iran’s
support of international terrorism.
History
 In 2004 US imposed ban on the publishing of scientific
manuscripts from Iran, and bans for direct relations
between Iranian and US banks.
 In 2006, UN demanded Iran to halt it’s uranium
enrichment but Iran refused to comply.
 Initially, US imposed sanctions on investment on oil, gas
History and petrochemicals and other petroleum products.
 On 2 April 2015, the P5+1 and Iran, meeting
in Lausanne, Switzerland, P5+1 reached a provisional
agreement that P5+1 would lift most of the sanctions in
exchange for limits on Iran's nuclear programs.
 As a result UN and US sanctions were lifted on 16
Iran Nuclear January 2016.
Deal  But on 8 May 2018, U.S. President Donald
Trump withdrawn from the Iran nuclear deal.
 And on 4 November 2018 US reimposed sanctions on
Iran.
