OBJECTIVE

• To monitor the heart rate and temperature of a patient using pulse sensor and LM-35 and
display in mobile using Arduino and Bluetooth module.
INTRODUCTION
• In India, many lives are lost to heart attacks because of not getting timely and proper help. If
no initiative taken, the amount of patients will increase in upcoming years.
• The answer to such a problem is that the patient needs to be “monitored constantly”. It is
vital to keep track on body by regular check up.
• Patient monitoring refers to the continuous observation of
repeating events of physiologic
function to guide therapy or to monitor the parameters in the intensive care unit and
operating room.
• Developing a System that can constantly measure the important parameters of patient’s body
and which can alert the closed ones and the doctor on any time when the patient’s condition
INTRODUCTION
• Body temperature and heart rate are vital parameters of human body and they are closely
related also.
• Continuous monitoring of these parameters are done in patient monitoring system.
• Arduino is used because it can sense the environment by receiving input from variety of
sensors and can affect its surroundings by controlling lights, motors, and other actuators.
• LM35 is used for the sense body temperature. Pulse sensor will allow one to measure their
mean arterial pressure and the accurate body temperature will be displayed on the android.
LITERATURE SURVEY
• Mansor, Hasmah, Et al. discusses Home-smart Clinic which is developed in order to connect
medical personnel and patients remotely. It is beneficial to the patients and society where such
system will save hospital bill, waiting time and reduce traffics in the hospital.

• Parihar, Vikramsingh R., Akesh Y. Tonge, and Pooja D. Ganorkar. describes the working of a
wireless Heartbeat and temperature monitoring system based on a Microcontroller atmega328 and
displays in a LCD display.
LITERATURE SURVEY
• Kioumars, Amir Hoshang, And Liqiong Tang collected the data from a group of volunteers using
the sensors and the Arduino micro-controller is programmed to transmit the data securely to a
remote PC station using an XBee wireless network for display and storage.

• Jaykaran Singh, Mukesh Tiwari And Manish Shelar, proposes that system would constantly
monitor important body parameters like temperature, heartbeat and would compare it against a
predetermined value set and if these values cross a particular limit it would
automatically alert the doctor and relatives of the patient via a SMS.
SYSTEM OVERVIEW
METHODOLOGY
• System includes advanced low power, wireless sensor nodes i.e. Temperature
sensor(LM-35) and heart rate sensor.
• Both sensors are attached to Bluetooth module(HC-05) via Arduino board, which
measures the body temperature and heart rate .
• Sensed data is transferred to the Arduino board for further processing before
transmitting through Bluetooth module.
• Through the Application ‘Android Bluetooth terminal’ the sensed data is taken to an
android device.
