Introduction
In simple term, structure is the pattern in which
various parts or components are interrelated or
interconnected. Thus organisation structure is the
relationships among various components or part of the
organisation .This prescribes the relationships among
various activities and positions. Since these positions
are held by various persons, the structure is the
relationships among people in the organisation.

The formal organisation is deliberately designed to
achieve some particular objectives . It refers to the
structure of well defined jobs, each bearing a definite
authority ,responsibility and accountability.
The formal organsation is stand upon four pillars.
1. Division and labour
2. Scalar and functional processes
3. Structure
4. Span of control

 Organisation structure is designed by the top management to full fill
the requirements
 Organisation structure is based on the principles of division of labour
and efficiency in operations
 Organisation concentrates more on the performance of jobs and not on
the individuals performing the jobs
 Coordination among members and their control are well specified
through processes procedures, rules etc.
Informal Organisation

Informal organisation refers to the natural grouping


of people on the basis of some similarity in an
organisation.

Informal organisation is a natural outcome at the
workplace. It is not designed and planned.
Informal organisation is created on the basis of some
similarities .For eg age, sex, place of
origin,caste,religion etc.
A person may become member of several informal
organisation at the same time.
