Mount Bromo

Location
 Located in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, East Java
 Mount Bromo sits in the middle of a plain called the "Sea of
Sand" (Javanese: Segara Wedi or Indonesian: Lautan Pasir), a
protected nature reserve since 1919.
 The name of Bromo derived from Javanese pronunciation of
Brahma, the Hindu creator god.
 Depending on the degree of volcanic activity, the Indonesian
Centre for Volcanology and Disaster Hazard Mitigation
sometimes issues warnings against visiting Mount Bromo.
Preparation

Route
 To reach Mount Bromo, you can fly to Juanda international
airport in Surabaya. There are direct flights to Surabaya from
Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hongkong, Jakarta and Bali. From
there, continue your journey to Mt Bromo by booking with a
travel agent, or driving the Surabaya-Pasuruan-Wonokitri-Mt
Bromo route. The journey will take 2-3 hours. It is best for you to
leave Surabaya at 23:00 PM - 24:00 AM in order to arrive in time
for sunrise. Or you can stay overnight at one of the hotels at
Prigen, Tretes, to make sure that you are on the crater rim before
sunrise. Ponies can take you across the sand sea to the bottom of
the steep stairs that leads to the crater.

Do and Don’t
DO
 Bring some snacks/bread for Bromo as there are not much option for food
 Don’t forget your warm jacket and extra socks, bring warm hat and glove also if you
can’t handle with cold. Usually the degree can reach 5-10°C
 You better choose weekday for your trip to Bromo. We know it might be difficult to
arrange, but as you know in weekend there will be a lot of people in Bromo and
sometimes it make you can’t enjoy the wonderful of Mt. Bromo.
 If you want get some special event when you visit Bromo, just arrange your holiday
when Kasada Ceremony held. It will be held on 14-16 months Kasada or when the full
moon appears in the sky. Usually in our calendar is in month June – July.
DON’T
 Don’t you try to out from track while in the sea
of sand, you might be lost.
 Kindly please obey the rules in Mt.Bromo and
do not have bad intension because Tengger
people still believe in karma
 And this for all of tourist, please do not litter.
