A beaker is a common
container in most labs. It
is used for mixing,
stirring, and heating
chemicals.
It has a narrow neck
and expands toward
its base. This allows
easy mixing and
swirling of the flask
without too much risk
of spilling.
Also known as a boiling
flask, the Florence flask has
a round bottom and a long
neck. It is used to hold
liquids and can be easily
swirled and heated. It can
also easily be capped by
rubber or glass stoppers.
A test tube is a glass tube
with one end open and the
other end closed. The closed
end is rounded. Test tubes are
used to hold small samples.
They are primarily used for
qualitative assessment and
comparison.
HEATING DEVICES It is use in heating
substances. An
alcohol burner or
spirit lamp is a piece
of laboratory
equipment used to
produce an open
flame. It can be
made from brass,
glass, stainless steel
or aluminium.
A Bunsen burner, named
after Robert Bunsen, is a
common piece of
laboratory equipment that
produces a single open gas
flame, which is used for
heating, sterilization, and
combustion.

A graduated cylinder is
used to measure the
volume of liquids in mL
(milliliters).
A volumetric flask is a round
flask with a long neck and
flat bottom. It is used to
measure an exact volume of
liquid. There is a small line
on the neck that indicates
how far to fill the bottle (use
the bottom of the
meniscus).
A pipette (sometimes
spelled pipet) is a
laboratory tool commonly
used in chemistry, biology
and medicine to transport
a measured volume of
liquid.
These are small glass tubes
with narrow tips on one end
and a rubber bulb on the
other. They suck up liquid
that can then be squeezed
out in small drops. These can
be used to add an indicator
to a solution about to be
titrated.

EVAPORATING DISH- used to

evaporate excess solvents-
most commonly water to
produce concentrated
solution.
TRIPOD- a portable three-
legged frame or stand used as
a platform for supporting the
weight and maintaining the
stability of some other object.
TONGS & FORCEPS- scissor-like tools,
but instead of having blades, these
tools are replace with two pincers or
pieces of metals that concave together,
which allow the users to grasp a hot
flask, evaporating dish, beakers.
WATCH GLASSES- a circular
concave piece o glass used in
chemistry to evaporate a liquid,
to hold solids while being
weighed, for heating a small
amount of substance and as a
cover for beaker.
MORTAR AND PESTLE- used to
prepare ingredients or
substances by crushing and
grinding them in a fine paste
or powder.
FUNNEL- a pipe with a wide
mouth and a narrow stem. It is
used to channel liquid or fine-
grained substances into
containers with a small
opening.
IRON STAND- use to hold the
iron ring and support.
IRON RING- used to hold or
support beakersduring
experiments while connected
to the iron stand.
TEST TUBE HOLDER- used to
hold test tube. CLAY TRIANGLE- used to
hold cruibles when they
are being heated.
WIRE GAUZE- used to CRUCIBLE- a container that
spread heat of a burner can withstand very high
flame. temperatures and is used
for metal or glass.
