UNIT 1| PRINCIPLES OF COMMUNICATION

( ELEMENTS OF COMMUNICATION)
Introduction

Effective communication with others is essential not only for

your own success but also for the success of any organizations
you work for, any groups you become part of, and your
relationship with any people you come to know. In today’s
world, job-specific talent, technical expertise, and graduation
from a prestigious school do not carry any guarantees for
upward mobility or attainment of goals. One factor shared by
people who are able to ascend both the professional and the
personal ladders of success is superior communication skills.
In this unit, we will introduce several components of
communication, its characteristics and the principles
underlying its operation. We will also define intercultural
communication and also identify the common intercultural
problems that impede effective communication in a culturally
diverse world and society. Knowing these aspects are very
essential to prepare yourself to communicate efficiently in a
world that has become transformed into a more unified global
community and be able to interact well in an age in which
diversity is a given.
Learning Objectives:

After the session, the students shall have:

1. identified different elements in the communication process;
