Printed Circuit Board Assembly

(PCBA) Section
Printed Circuit Board Assembly
(PCBA) Section

 Printed Circuit Board is designed by Creative Electronics,

however is manufactured in China.
 All the components i.e. MCU, Capacitors, Diodes, Resistors,
Transistors to be installed on PCB are imported from China
 Components are packed in reels
 This Section has Three Sub Sections
• Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Section.
• Through hole Mounting Section
• General Functional Testing
SMT Sub Section
Printed Circuit Board Assembly
(PCBA) Section

 Surface Mount Technology (SMT)

Section.
• A PCB panel for 8 single phase meters is placed in auto
Starter, where soldering paste is applied.
• The it automatically moves to components assembly part of
the assembly. Where different components are installed on
PCB
• Machine is programmed to collect different components from
different reels and install those at different locations of PCB.
• Then the PCB passes through dry soldering heater which
follows a temperature profile. Which gradually increased and
then decreased to solder components with already applied
soldering paste.
Printed Circuit Board Assembly
(PCBA) Section

 Surface Mount Technology (SMT)

Section.
• This is where electrical connection of the components with
the PCB is developed
• PCB Panel of 8 meters is used for fast production
• On panel of 8 meters gets finished with within 5 minutes
• 8 Hrs production is approximately 2200 to 2400 pieces
• Approximately 130 pieces are installed on PCB
• The whole process here is fully automated

Through Hole Mounting Sub Section

Through Hole Mounting Sub Section
Printed Circuit Board Assembly
(PCBA) Section

 Through hole Mounting Section

• The PCB finished at SMT sub section is fully examined for
any missing components or flaws at this stage.
• In this sub section all the through components which are
larger in size such as Capacitors, LCD, Resistors are installed
on PCB manually.
• workforce here is all females members and they are trained
to do this minute level work.
 General Functional Testing
• General functional testing such as checking of LED working,
power supply to meter electrical connection verification etc
is done in this sub section
