One Life, Ride It!

Partnership- Service Business

• Legal Document: https://www.wonder.legal/us/creation-modele/partnership-agreement

• I chose this kind of ownership because I personally can not keep track of all the horses needs,
the stable keep-up, money going in and out; communication with the leasers, boarders, people
looking for lessons, employees, etc.
• I chose this kind of business because horseback riding is my favorite hobby, interest, and talent.
Plus, I would love to be able to work with horses all day long every day and to work with adults
and kids on how to ride horses and to work with them.
• I would have 1 partner that is helping me with the stable. I would be focusing on the money
and the horses while my partner focuses on the stable, the employees and the questions that
the leasers, boarders, instructors, riders, or future riders.
• The advantages of this type of ownership is that it has shared responsibility and risk, and I am
not having to stress out of so many things when I have a partner to help me with the stable.
• The disadvantages of this type of ownership is that it has shared profits, and sometimes it is
hard to know if they did their part of the work or if they are going to do their part of the work.

I chose this piece of land because it has 40 acres of land already built with a 300 ft. X 160 ft. pipe open arena
with arena lights and a 60 ft. X 80 ft. covered riding area. Plus, a vet is not far away from the location,
property is fully fenced, and it is only a 50 minute drive to downtown Dallas.

Employees
• In order to make this business run smoothly I would need to
hire about 30 people to work at the barn doing many different
things.
• I would need about 7 instructors to instruct during the lessons
(maybe less if an instructor does more than one day), 14 people to
help out with feeding (maybe less if people do more than one day),
1 vet to take care of the horses, 1 horse chiropractor to also help take care of the horses, 1
massage therapist to also take care of the horses, 1 equine dentist to also take care of the horses
teeth, 1 farrier to also take care of the horses shoes, 2 trainers to train the horses, and 1 drill team coach to
coach the teams.
• The kind of employee qualifications that I am looking for are gentle, horse lovers,
compassionate, trustworthy, follow instructions, responsible, loving, able, and knowledgeable.
Business Social Responsibility
• A project that my business will participate in to help the community is Operation Adopt where
we will help organizations like SPCA or other Animal shelters and rescues to try to find homes
to the animals in those shelters.
• The ways that we will help is we will open up our stable to help out the shelters to animals that
are looking for a home to stay with us for awhile and we will try to adopt them out to families.
We will take good care of the animals by feeding them, training them and trying to make them
safe and welcome. The shelter horses will have their own pasture in their own place on the
land so they do not get skittish and so we can keep them together and calm and way from the
tough notch mares and geldings that are being ridden. They would get a lot of attention while
they are with us to try and get them in shape, to be able to get them rideable as well as safe to
be around.
• By taking in the animals and acting like a shelter we are lowering the amount of animals in the
shelter and we are using our resources to help out the shelter.
Budget for 1st year
Item Cost
Land $259,900
Remodeling $10,000
Purchasing horses $50,000
Staff $100,000
Equipment- arena digger, poles, barrels, stools $8,000
Tack, sprays and grooming supplies $10,000
Total cost for 1st year: $437,900

This is the projected start up cost budget for the 1st year. These costs, except for the land, are an
approximation of what I believe the cost are or how much I would like to spend on each of the items.
Since the land has a preexisting stable format the only thing that I would do is remodel it to match my
needs and to buy items that is needed.
Target Audience
• My target audience are people of all ages from age 5 to age 80 that are wanting to have a
chance to mark of horseback riding off their bucket list or someone that is interested in
horseback riding as a sport.
• Characteristics that will help me in being successful in my business is being caring about others
needs, smart business decisions, accepting of everyone, knowledgeable of my work, patient of
others interest, organized of my work, easy-going, up-to-date on everything that is happening,
and interested in what other people have to say.
• The type of customers that will come to my stable are people interested in horses, horseback
riding, country people, people interested in looking for horses, and people looking for places to
board their horse(s).
• The type of image that I want to convey is a place where people are able to ride a horse that
matches their riding ability and having an instructor that is able to teach them and guide them
the right way to ride and handle horses. I also want them to be able to have fun and to learn a
lot and be able to let everything that they have been through the week float away when they
are riding. I will carry this out in my barn by having the barn friendly colors and designs, plus,
having the barn all nice and tidy will be a good touch.
Advertising
• I am going to advertise my business by using a social media account, like Facebook, and a
website that will show whenever people search up “horse stables near me” our name will
show up and people will be interested in our stable. Every so often we will put an ad in the
newspaper to show people that we are available to the public, but we would be better with
website and a social media account. We would also show others about Golden Horse Stable by
showing off our riding skills and our golden uniforms by performing in rodeos and drill team
competitions.
