Intern : hello, Mr. Martin. How are you?

Patient : i feel real bad, Doctor.
Intern : how do you feel bad?
Patient : oh, i’ve been throwing up for the
past few days.
Intern : is it what you eat?
Patient : oh, I haven’t eaten anything for a
while.
Intern : is it bloody?
Patient : No, just kind of whitish and thick.
Intern : How many days ago did this first start?
Patient : about three days ago.
Intern : have you been drinking at all?
Patient : yeah, i had a lot of drink then. I lost
my job and felt kind of down in the
dumps.
Intern : how long have you been drinking?
Patient : about ten years.
Intern : how much do you drink?
Patient : about a pint a weekend.
Intern : have you had any pain?
Patient : yes.
Intern : where does it start?
Patient : right here.
Intern : does it go anywhere?
Patient : yes, it feels like it goes toward my
right shoulder.
Inter : what kind of pain is it?
Patient : it feels like somebody is boring a
hole through my back.
Intern : and how long have you had it?
Patient : oh, i’ve had this for the past three
days.
Intern : how long does this pain test?
Patient : it lasts about half an hour, but it
comes and goes.
Intern : have you ever had any pains like this
before?
Patient : no.
