Event Details

• Event time: Night of 24th December, 2012


• Shahzeb Khan was returning home from his sisters Walima
• Shahzeb’s sister was eye teased by Lashari
• Led to a fight between Shahzeb and the Talapurs accompanied by
their friend Shahrukh Jatoi
• Later, Shahrukh and Siraj traced Shahzeb and gunned him down

• Initially, no arrests ever made


• Social media movement “Justice for Shahzeb Khan” began
• Siraj, Sajjad and Lashari were arrested on 7th January,2013
• Shahrukh Jatoi had fled to Dubai
• 15th January 2013, Shahrukh Jatoi was also arrested
• A case was filed against the accused in March 2013
• In June 2013, main accuse Shahrkh Jatoi and Siraj Talpur were
sentenced to death

• On 28 November 2017, Shahrukh Jatoi sentence to death was


reverted and an order of retrial for the case was passed by the
Sindh High Court
• On 23rd December 2017, Shahrukh Jatoi and his friends were
released
• According to details, the court ordered the suspects to submit a
surety of Rs. 5Lacs
• While Shahzeb’s father submitted an agreement stating that they
forgave the culprits in the name of Allah
• And did not take an blood money
Case Details

• After the release of Shahrukh Jatoi, the session court has filed a
case under the act of terrorism
• An arrest warrant has been passed by the court against Shahrukh
and his friends
• On 1st February 2018, shahrukh and two accused friends were
taken into custody by Islamabad police from the supreme court
• On 10th February 2018, Shahrukh was shifted to the hospital due to
severe backache.

murder of 100 boys.

Lynching of Mughees and
Muneeb Butt
Case Facts

• Mughees and Muneeb Butt were two Pakistani brothers who were
lynched by mob on August 15, 2010 in Sialkot, Punjab, Pakistan.

• The lynching was witnessed by a crowd of people including nine


police officials who apparently offered no resistance.

• The brutal killing of two brothers was recorded by some of the


witness, which was later broadcast by the media.
• The two brothers were accused of robbery, dacoity, and murder.
Case Facts

• According to an investigative report by Director General of Anti-


Corruption, Kazim Malik, police officials present at the crime
scene encouraged the killing of the brothers.

• Shams Ali, one of the accused involved in the killing, claimed that
he carried out the murders at the behest of the former District
Police Officer of Sialkot, Waqar Chauhan.
Trial

• On September 20, 2011 Anti-Terrorism Court Gujranwala (ATC) issued its


verdict

• sentencing seven people to death, six to life in prison, and giving all the
policemen involved in the incident three-year terms

• The ATC Judge Mushtaq Gondal found 10 policemen, including former


DPO Waqar Chohan, guilty.

• Five of the accused were acquitted by the court


• In total 28 people were accused in the case.

• The seven accused sentenced to death, and were scheduled to be


hanged on April 8, 2016 in Sialkot.
