PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Mission:-To create and provide quality services to the inhabitants and visitors of Lucknow, through a World
Class Mass Rapid Transit System that is convenient, safe, fast, reliable and cost effective.
About Metro:-
• Lucknow Metro Rail Project is a joint venture Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) project between the
Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
• Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation Limited or LMRC is responsible to build and operate this network.
• Technical clearance from the Ministry of Railways, which LMRC received on 8th June 2017
• Second clearance from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) was given to LMRC on 14th
August 2017.
• The priority corridor of Lucknow metro became operational on 5th September 2017.

The proposed metro for Lucknow consists of two corridors namely:

• 1. North-South Corridor: CCS Airport – Munshi Pulia
• 2. East West Corridor: Charbagh/Lucknow Railway Station – Vasant Kunj
Current Status:-
 Financial description

• The project is being implemented on 50:50 model , with

equity sharing by GoI and GoUP.

• Over 50% of the project (Rs 3502 cr) is being funded

through foreign debt from The European Investment Bank
(EIB).

QUALITY MANAGEMENT

• QA/QC (QUALITY ASSESSMENT/QUALITY CONTROL) is responsible for ensuring the

quality of work on site, also it conducts various tests on material used for construction and ensures
that no faulty material is being used.
• QC- is responsible for controlling the assured quality and is a site level work.
• QA- is responsible for assurance of quality to client and is all done at the tender level.
• The department follows ISO9001, 2005 for defining the quality of the material used in the project.
This department prepares a PQP (Project Quality Plan) and also makes a method statement for
smallest of the work to be carried out at site.
• The PQP contains Quality Management System, Management Responsibility, Resource
Management, Measurement Analysis and Improvements.
• It follows various codes for various works like IS 383: 1970 for aggregate testing and IS 2430 for
aggregate sampling.
Revenue generation:-

• 85%- from fares (smart cards & tokens)

• 15 %- from the property development (commercial

spaces for cafes, book-stores, shops, ATM centers )

AWARDS:-

• Lucknow Metro was awarded 2nd Place for 'Best Metro for Excellence in Innovative
Designs' at 5th Annual Metro Rail Summit in New Delhi behind the Delhi Metro. It competed
against the other metro projects of the country like Mumbai Metro, Jaipur Metro etc.
• Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) was awarded the European Society for Quality
Research (ESQR) Choice Prize Award 2016 under the Gold category.
• Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation won the Dun & Bradstreet Infra Award in 2017 in the
Metro Rail category for completing "Priority Corridor" of the North –South Corridor (Phase
1A) and commissioning the project in a record time of less than three years.
• Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation won the International 'Royal Society for the Prevention of
Accidents' (RoSPA) Award. LMRC was given the Silver Award for its Phase 1A (North-South
Corridor) in the Project/Infrastructure category for the year 2018.
• Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation was certified with the highest green rating (i.e. the Platinum
Rating) by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
