♦ System configuration
The training deals with the commissionning procedure for LSY LHR R2 in configuration
N+1 STM1 Electrical Interface without XPIC, and Space Diversity
♦ Test classification
• Station test
Local test
• Hop test
Test of the microwave link between two adjacent stations
• Section test
Quality (performance) test between two terminal station
♦ Tests instruments

♦ Switch I1
Dipswitch 1:
- On(0) : if you use the daughter board for XPIC
- Off(1) : If you use the daughter board for Diversity
Nota: If you have no daughter board, the position of this switch will have no importance
Dipswitch 2:
- On(0) : The carrier frequency isn’t modulated (you send only the carry
frequency, so you can see in reception, on the other side, if you have an
interference) => only for maintenance test!!!
- Off(1) : The carrier frequency is modulated ( it is always the case)
Dipswitch 3 & 4 : Always on « OFF » (1) - Factory option -
♦ Switch I2:
Dipswitch 1: For XPIC Configuration
- On(0) : Modulator is working in polarisation H
- Off(1) : Modulator is working in polarisation V
Nota: When you don’t have XPIC, it is better to have the same configuration for
all demodulators and modulators in the two sites!!
Dipswitch 2: For XPIC Configuration
- On(0) : Demodulator is working in polarisation H
- Off(1) : Demodulator is working in polarisation V
Dipswitch 3 & 4 : Always on « OFF » (1) - Factory option –
• Check the serial numbers of the boards with the Remote Inventory (CT):
=> Supervision => Upload remote Inventory (refresh the remote Inventory)

Results Sheet
1 ppm = F/106
For F = 8 Ghz , 1ppm = 8. 109 / 106 = 8.103 = 8 kHz
Thus, if Tolerance is equal to +/- 10ppm, Tolerance = +/- 80 kHz

RT Switch configuration
0 = « On » = « Closed »
1 = « Off » = « Open »
ON or « 0 »
♦ Switch 1,2,3,4,5 on I3 – I5 are used to select number of the channel in the Frequency
Plan (refer to Technical Handbook Section 3)
♦ It is exactly the same configuration for Dipswitch 1,2,3,4,5 on I3 and I5 because it is the
same channel of the Frequency Plan
on off off on
FTx is in the « Upper Half of the Band » => Dip 6= 1(off), and Dip 7 =0(on)
FRx is in the « Lower Half of the Band » => Dip 6= 0(on), and Dip 7 =1(off)
Switch I2
♦ Dipswitch 1: Set « Off » (1) if you have diversity Receiver or « On » (0) if you have no
diversity
♦ Dipswitch 2: Set « On » (0) to be able to configure the frequency manually on the
transceiver (It is generally the case)
♦ Dipswitch 3:
Set « Off » (1) to configure the OL RX in MASTER with XPIC function ( This OL will
send the reference to the other OL which will be configure in SLAVE).
Note: Without XPIC function, all OL are configured in MASTER
Set « On » (0) to configure the OL RX in SLAVE with XPIC function ( This OL will
receive the reference from the other OL which will be configure in MASTER).
♦ Dipswitch 4: Never change this dipswitch
Select the channel 1 and realize a manual Switching operation (mark « protecting »
in the « Manual to » Colunm)
Apply
=> Open the menu Radio => RPS => Synthesis , in order to check the operation result.
The « active » Channel has to be the Channel 0
You have to note no errors on your SDH Analyzer (Hitless Switching)

(5) Add attenuation in order to have your second BER Alarm on your SDH Analyzer
(6) Mark the second Point on your BER Curves at This new Received Power Value
(7) Repeat Operation (5) and (6) in order to have 4 or 5 points.
(8) Trace your curve
In case of No Diversity ,
you curve has to be in the
left side of the Main/Div

Board alarms
RUP : Be sure the power supply switch isn’t on « OFF » (on the RT)
RUTM: Be sure the configuration of the board in CT is the same as the inserted card
SEP: Be sure that the new board has the same software version as the Flash card. If
not, you need to wait up to 30 min (RRA Board) before this board be working.
SYSCO alarms
LAN : If you don’t configure the Q3 Interface (Ethernet), this alarm will not appear.
If this interface is configured, the alarm will appear when the Ethernet cable will be
disconnected
ICP: Problem with the communication between the sysco Board and the others
boards (this alarm appear sometimes just after you’ve restarted the NE and persist
during a few minutes).
VM: Check the software version of your equipement
MLOS: Modulator LOS, No signal at the input of the modulator (includes perhaps
MF and or TXFail, TxLOS)
AIM: Problem with ATPC Pointer configuration (only if you use this option)
ALCP: Problem with ATPC configuration (ATPC enable but doesn’t work)
Take off the SYSCO Board (lost of the supervision) and set the switch 2 on I1 to « on »
Insert the SYSCO Board and wait a few minutes in order to restore supervision
Set on « on »

Now, you just have to configure each board or restore a backup.
