Researchers INTRODUCTION According to Asian Development Bank, the Province of Southern Leyte is among the 10 most disaster-prone Province in the Philippines. This study is about the Disaster Preparedness in which the Southern Leyte and the rest of the Western Visayas experience natural disaster like earthquake, etc.. Aims to enhance their knowledge in terms of disaster preparedness. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY This study aimed to design and develop “An Android Mobile Application for Disaster Preparedness in Pacific Area of Southern Leyte” that provide disaster preparedness tips and SMS notification and online public Advisory for disaster. The specific objectives were the following: 1. To evaluate the current system in the terms of 1.1 Maintainability; 1.2 Usability; and 1.3 Performance 2. To evaluate the proposed system in the terms of 2.1 Maintainability; 2.2 Usability; and 2.3 Performance 3. To identify the significant difference between current and proposed systems in terms of 3.1 Maintainability; 3.2 Usability; and 3.3 Performance METHODOLOGY Research design The study utilizes the descriptive method. The researcher constructed questionnaire to gather data from respective respondents who are residents and officer of MDRRMO in pacific area of Southern Leyte. Silago RESPONDENTS AND SAMPLING TECHNIQUE
The identified respondents of this study
were MDRRM officer and residents of 6 Municipalities namely Saint Bernard, San Juan, Anahawan, Hinundayan, Hinunangan and Silago.The researcher used the simple random sampling method because the proponent will randomly selected a smaller sample size from the large population in Pacific area of Southern Leyte. DATA ANALYSIS PROCEDURE Random Sampling Method. Sample (n) were chosen randomly as unbiased representation of the total population. Mean. Used to derive the central or average value of the data. For the research, it is used to determine the performance of the existing and the proposed system based on the provided categories. Paired Sample T-test. Used to determine the significance difference between the performance of the existing and the proposed system. FINDINGS
Based on the result, there was significant
difference between the current and proposed system. In terms of Maintainability, Usability and Performance in the current system it was fairly efficient while the Proposed system in terms of Maintainability, Usability and Performance it means excellent.
