• It’s an essay in which you state your views

regarding a topic.

• Your views need to be well backed up (reasoned

arguments) to make your thinking visible.

• A convincing, persuasive piece of writing

 What is NOT an Extended
Essay?

• A merely descriptive piece of writing

about a topic.

• A predictive (easy) answer to a topic
