BUSINESS IMMERSION (BI)
Business Immersion at KIAMS enable students to understand
the industry and also to learn industry practices.
Chetan GK, KIAMS
It is an attempt to bridge the gap between academia and
industry.
Duration of the BI is 13 weeks (2nd April to 29th June, 2019)
The program carries a weightage of 6 credits in Trimester IV.
This will be evaluated for 300 marks.
Students have to meet and discuss (in person or over phone) 2
with the respective faculty guides (FGs) before they depart to
their Business Immersion.

workplace by assigning timebound projects in the

BASIS ONE: RESEARCH BASED PROJECT

The research objectives can be either provided by
the CG or formulated by the student with the
help of FG.

FORMAT OF BI RESEARCH BASED
PROJECT PROPOSAL
Abstract: A problem statement (research) of
about 250 words describing what the project is
going to be.

Faculty Coordinator to bring it down below 30% while
submitting the Final Report.

FINAL REPORT
The final report and MSPPT should be
submitted within 3 weeks from the last day of
the BI term in the BI Company.

The final report should be submitted with all the
necessary changes which are advised by the
concerned FG.

IMPORTANT:
Students should submit a MSPPT along with the
Final Report.

The PPTs submitted by the students in turn will
be sent to the BI viva voce panelists for their
reference.
Under no circumstances, students will be allowed
to change/update their PPTs in the later stage.

Not more than 5 bullet points per slide with 28
to 30 font size of Times New Roman with white

PPT GUIDELINES CONTD.
Students should not read from the slides. They have to
explain the bullet points mentioned on the slides.

Students should establish proper eye contact with the
panelists.
Presentation which they make should be crisp and
convincing to the audience.
Students at any circumstances should not demonstrate
dissatisfaction about the Company Guide (CG) during
presentation.
Students should ensure that the objective of the project 24
and project done are on the same lines.
PPT GUIDELINES CONTD.
Students will be given 25 minutes (excluding 5
minutes for Q&A) to present before the expert
panel.

Students those who have undertaken non
research based projects should include one or two
cases which they encountered while doing their
internship in their PPTs.
Three panelists in the BI viva voce. That is two
from industry one is KIAMS alumnus. 25

Do’s
Get an overview of the Company/Industry in
which you are placed.

This includes understanding the core business of
the company, organizational chart, key personnel
in the company, manufacturing units, marketing
channels, financial policies, etc.
Obtain a copy of the latest annual report and
analyze the financial statement, wherever

possible.
DO’S CONTD.
Always make a note of the important points during
meetings/discussions.

Get in touch with the Faculty Guide, if the situation
warrants.

Always be polite in your dealings and maintain cordial
relationship with the Company Executives.
Always be positive and open to suggestions.
Get conversant with the company’s policies/rules before
incurring expenditure.
Always be present whenever the FG or the BI faculty 28

Criticize the company’s policies and the Company
Executives.

Attend the office in informal dress.
Get into arguments and lose temper.
