TYPES OF DISCONTINUITY

• Removable Discontinuity- this discontinuity occurs when

there is a hole in the graph of the function.
CONSIDER THE FF. FUNCTION

𝒙−𝟐
• Step 1
• Find f(x)
• Step 2
• Find lim f(x)
• Step 3
• Lim f(x)= f(x)
• Step 4
• Create a table
• Step 5
• Plot a graph
• Step 6
• Redefine function

f(x)
𝑥+3
• Step 1
• Find f(x)
• Step 2
• Find lim f(x)
• Step 3
• Lim f(x)= f(x)
• Step 4
• Create a table
• Step 5
• Plot a graph
• Step 6
• Redefine function
JUMP DISCONTINUITY

• This discontinuity occurs when the graph of the

function stops at one point and seems to jump at
another point. In a jump discontinuity, the left hand
and the right hand limit exists but are not equal.
•Infinite Discontinuity – In this type of
discontinuity, at least one of the two limits
is infinite
