What is Telecommunication?
Telecommunication is the transmission of signs, signals,
messages, words, writings, images and sounds or information of
any nature by wire, radio, optical or electromagnetic systems.
Telecommunication occurs when the exchange of information
between communication participants includes the use of
technology.

Basic Elements
• A transmitter that takes information and
converts it to signal.
• A transmission medium, also called the
“physical channel” that carries the signal. An
example of this is the “ free space channel.
• A receiver takes the signal from the channel
and converts it back into usable information.
