 FACTS :
 After 2010 , More than two dozens of cases of financial irregularities, money
laundering and criminal cases have been filed against Lalit Modi
 Lalit Modi, BCCI and few other officials appeared to have contravened the
provisions of FEMA, 1999 to the extent of Rs 89 crore.
 Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) , has charged Modi of sending "fraud"
emails and being a suspect beneficiary of Rs 125 crore illegal funds in connection
with its Rs 425 crore forex violations probe for granting media rights of the T-20
tournament in 2009 by BCCI.

ARGUMENTS :

 The case pertains to a criminal complaint filed by BCCI which

has accused the former IPL commissioner of misappropriating
funds during his tenure.
 ED had earlier argued that the agency had been unable to
execute the non-bailable warrant against Modi as he is
residing in UK.
 Modi had cheated the Board of Control for Cricket in India
( BCCI) by getting ‘illegal gains’ from media rights as well as
other deals that he entered in to with different companies
while he was the IPL chairman.
 ED said MODI was also part of "criminal conspiracy''
JUDGEMENTS :

 Modi was removed from the BCCI

Committe .
 He was no longer the IPL chairman .
 Rs 425 crores penalty had been slaped
on modi .
 He was banned for life time for any
innvolement in cricketing matters .
