 Half Bridge Inverter
• Inverter is used to convert DC to AC.
• The Half Bridge Inverters includes only two switching
devices but the Full Bridge Inverter need four
switching devices.
• We usually use IGBT’s or MOSFETS as switching devices
for Half Wave Inverters
 Working
• Circuit diagram of the half bridge inverter is as shown
in below figure.
• Input DC voltage is
Vdc = 100 V. This source
is divided into two equal
parts.
• MOSFET-1 is triggered for first half cycle (0 < t < π)
and MOSFET-2 is triggered for 2nd half cycle (π < t <
2π)
• For first half cycle , Current will take the upper loop
and +Vdc/2 voltage will appear on the load and for
2nd half cycle , lower loop will be taken by the current
and – Vdc/2 Volts will appear on the Load.
