Importance of Classifying

Organism
At presents different characteristics are used to classify
and name organisms, some of these include form, color,
size, chemical structure and even genetic makeup.

Earlier attempts in classifying organism used general


appearances such as anatomical and physiological
characters.

the most recent ways of classifying and naming


organisms focus more on genetic and molecular
similarities.

Importance of Naming
Organism
- DOG
In Filipino It is called ASO. In other countries is called INU
(Japanese), GAE (KOREAN), CHIEN ( Malaysia).
- Puma Concolor
Can be called a cougar, a puma,
a panther, or a mountain lion
- Mt. Tapulo forest mouse

Its scientific name is Apomys brownorum.

This is one of the four species of mice discovered in luzon


it is also the smallest of the apomys species.

Is a two word naming system used to name a


species. In this naming system, each species is assigned a
two part scientific name, wherein the first word is
capitalized and the second word is set in lowercase.

This santan species is an evergreen shrub that can be
