HOUSEHOLD MATERIALS
 Household materials include
detergent, bleach, toilet bowl
cleaner, dishwashing liquid,
furniture cleaner, air freshener,
alcohol, insecticide, batteries,
cosmetics, and all other materials
that we use at home to keep us safe
and to live a comfortable life.

 They may also include paint, paint
thinner, varnish, sealant, adhesive,
and other solvents used for house
maintenance.
 Most of these materials are in the

store room, in storage areas under


the sink, and in cabinets in the
garage and laundry area.

HAZARD – anything that could cause
harm.

Poison/Toxic – a substance that is
poisonous when swallowed or
breathed in.
Corrosive – a substance that may
destroy living tissue on contact.

catch fire easily.
Environmental hazard – a substances
that may damage or pollute the
environment.
Compressed Gas – a hazardous
chemical gas which can catch fire and
burn.

may explode if it comes into a
contact with a flame or heat.
Irritant – a substance that may
cause irritation to the skin,
eyes, or inside the body.

identify the property of the
product.
- Store in different shelves
materials with different
properties.

materials so they will not
peel off and get lost
because you may need
