Flamingo
flamingos is one of the most interesting animal
species in the world. There are six known
species out there. They do not often look flying
but can certainly be like other birds. They are
classified into the Aves class, and their scientific
name is Phoenicopterus. On average they
have a height of 100-150 cm. Weighing 2 - 4 kg,
that's one of the reasons they have a speed of
50 km / h. In addition, flamingoes are often
seen on the edge of the lake standing on one
leg. Flamingos actually slept while on one leg
but strangely enough, only half of the flamingos
actually fell asleep - half of which the legs still
standing still active.
Flamingos use a large weird-shaped beak to filter shrimp out of water.
The flamingos use a bizarre, reversed beak to separate the mud and
food in the water. The mouth of the flamingo is covered with a small
hair called lamellae that helps the filtering of water and flamingo also
has a rough tongue that is also used flamingo to filter food from water.
Although flamingos are only nested once a year, flamingo colonies are
known to breed at any time of the year. Flamingos reach sexual
maturity (meaning flamingoes are able to multiply) when flamingoes
are between 3 and 6 years old. Flamingos build their nests of mud, rock
and feathers and do so about 6 weeks before they lay their eggs.
