CEMENT CONCRETE

NAR-505

(ESTIMATION & SPECIFICATION)


• Coarse aggregate shall be of hard broken stone of granite or
similar stone , free from dust , dirt & other foreign matters.
• The stone blast shall be of 20mm size & down and all should
be retained in a 5mm square mesh and well graded such that
the voids do not exceed 42%.
• Sand consisting of hard , sharp & angular grains & shall be
pass through screen of 5mm square mesh.
• Cement shall be of fresh port-land cement of stander ISI
specification.
PROPORTION
The proportion of concrete shall be 1:2:4 as cement:sand:stone
by volume unless otherwise specified.
• HAND MIXING:-
first 2 box of sand & 1 bag of cement shall be mixed by dry
thoroughly & then this dry mix of sand & cement shall be placed
over a stake of 4 boxes of stone aggregate & then mix thoroughly
at least 3 times. Water then be added slowly & gradually with a
water can while being mixed to the required quantity 25-30 litre,
and then mixed thoroughly at least 3 times to give a uniform
concrete.
• MACHINE MIXING:-
Stone ballast, Sand and cement shall be put into the cement
concrete mixer to have the required proportion, for concrete of
1:2:4 proportion , the machine shall then be revolved to mix
materials dry & then water shall be added gradually to the
required quantity, 25-30 litres
FORMWORK
Formwork centering & shuttering shall be provided as required
as per standard specification before laying concrete to confine to
support or to keep the concrete in position.
The inner surface of shuttering shall be oiled to prevent concrete
sticking to it.
forms should not be removed before 14 days in general .
LAYING
Concrete shall be laid gently in layer not exceeding 15cm &
compacted by pining with rods & tamping with wooden tampers
or with mechanical vibrating machine until a dense concrete is
obtained.
Concrete shall be laid continuously, if laying is suspended for rest
or for the following day the end shall be sloped at an angle of
30degree and made rough for further jointing.
CURING
After about 2 hours laying when concrete has begun to harden it
shall be kept damp by covering with wet gunny bags or wet sand
for 24 hours & then cured by flooding with water making mud
walls and kept damp continuously for 15 days.
