Module Aim
• To provide opportunity for students to
demonstrate a knowledge, and
understanding of the design approaches,
techniques, materials, and processes
employed in the construction of a broad
range of building types and to make well
informed decisions within that process.
Intended learning outcomes
• On successful completion of this module students will be able to:
– Analyse the forms and methods of construction of various
building types
– Select the most appropriate method of achieving constructed
solutions in a range of circumstances, demonstrating an
appreciation of the relationships between technological
solutions, efficiency of delivery, and the economics of the
process
– Critically evaluate impact that forms of construction have upon
functional suitability, fitness for purpose, and occupational
standards
