 Positive psychology is the scientific study of
ordinary human strength and virtues. Positive
psychology revisits “the average person”, with
an interest in finding out what works, what is
right, and what is wrong, and what is
improving. (Sheldon & king, as cited in
Chadha, Bhatia & Sharma, 2012)
Positive psychologists contended that gratitude is more
than feeling thankful for something, it is more like a
deeper appreciation for someone (or something) which
produces longer lasting positivity. Gratitude is an emotion
similar to appreciation that most people familiar with.

Hope emphasizes cognitions that are built on goal-

directed thought. Hope is defined as goal-directed
thinking in which the person utilizes pathways thinking
(the perceived capacity to find routes to desired goals)
and agency thinking (the requisite motivations to use
those routes).
 Psychological Well-being refers to the achievement of
one’s full psychological potential.

 Ryff & Keyes thus spoke of psychological well-being

as distinct from Subjective well-being and presented a
multidimensional approach to the measurement of
psychological well-being that taps six distinct aspects
of human actualization: Autonomy, Environmental
Mastery, Personal Growth, Positive Relations,
Purpose in Life and self-acceptance.
