Reinforcement:
Woven/braided textile consisting of natural/synthetic
fiber.
Helical wire:
Galvanised steel wire
Not present in Type 3 hose
Electrical bonding:
Low resistant bonding wire between reinforcement piles
Electrical continuity maintained along the length of the
hose
Built-in end connections provided or bonding wire
protrudes 40mm at each end and folded into the hose bore.
Cover:
Rubber compound resistant to weather, abrasion and
petroleum products.
Thickness not less than 1.25 mm.
End connection:
Flanges should be either welded or threaded to the nipple.

INSPECTION AND TESTING OF NEW
HOSES PRIOR TO USE (OISD-135)
All hoses shall be serially numbered for maintaining service
records.
Hoses shall be inspected for the following
- Dimensional check-up.
- The hose cover for cracks, tear, puncture, abrasion or any
other damage.
- Couplings for cracks or any other deformity.
- Liner for defects and physical damages from both ends.
Hydrostatic pressure testing. (as per IS 10733)
Electrical continuity testing. (after every hydrotest)
Periodicity of testing: First test after 6 months;
subsequently every 3 months interval.
STORAGE AND HANDLING OF
HOSES
Hose assemblies should be laid out straight on solid
supports. Light weight hose assemblies in particular
should be laid out in such a way that they are not
subjected to flattening.
All hose assemblies shall be covered to protect them
from sunlight. A cool, dark, & dry storage place is
preferred.
All hose assemblies should be marked to indicate the
service for which they are to be used. All persons
handling hose assemblies should fully understand
the marking system and its meaning.
2. CAMLOCK COUPLING
Camlocks (also called cam and groove couplings), are a
kind of hose coupling used to rapidly connect and
disconnect fittings on piping or hose.
