Definition of Communication
• Communication is a process by which
information is exchanged between individuals
through a common system of symbols and signs
of behavior
Goals of communication
• Providing knowledge about company goals, how
to perform a job, standards for acceptable
behavior, needed changes, and so on

• Motivating organizational member- for


example, by determining valences, raising
expectancies and instrumentalities, assigning
specific and difficult goals, and giving feedback.

• Organizational communication is the exchange
of information, ideas, and views within and
outside the organization. Organizational
communication indicates communication not
only in business but also in hospitals, churches,
government agencies, military organization, and
academic institutions. Every organization
whether business or non-business has some
specific goals and stakeholders. Attainment of
those goals depends on successful

Key Differences Between Internal and
External Communication
• Internal Communication refers to the communication which takes place
among the participants within the business organization. On the
contrary, external communication is a communication that occurs
between the organization and other individuals, groups or
organizations.

• Internal communication can be formal or informal but external


communication is mostly formal and highly documented

• Both internal and external communication are regular but the frequency
of internal communication is relatively higher than that of external
commnication.
