Abstract
As water supply is becoming scarce in today’s world there is an urgency of adopting
smart ways of irrigation. The project describes how irrigation can be handled smartly
using automation. It aims at saving time and avoiding problems like constant
vigilance. It also helps in conserving water by automatically providing water to the
plants/field depending on the water requirements. It can also prove to be helpful in
agriculture,parks and lawns.
This system is expected to allow the farmers in evaluating the soil conditions
through which it can reduce the unwanted usage of water and allowing proper yield
of crops as well as reducing human. The objective of this system is to detect the
moisture content of the soil and depending on it waters accordingly.

INTRODUCTION
In crop production a healthy water balance is essential for high quality
yields.Under-watered crops suffer from nutrient deficiencies while over-watered
plants are more susceptible to diseases pressure and can in some cases lead to
root death through suffocation. Also over-watered plants are not able to
withstand dry spells during dry season.
Use of proper method of irrigation is significant. To fulfill this necessity,we
introduce an advanced automatic crop field monitoring system. In this system we
have used sensors, digital circuits, water sources and a control unit. The entire
system is controlled using ATMEGA 328 microcontroller which is giving the
interrupt signal to the motor. Our circuit implemented aims to sense and monitor
the irrigation system which in turn makes the entire irrigation process much
more efficient, less time consuming and less labour intensive.
