WHAT IS HYPERTENSION?
Hypertension is another name for high blood pressure.

High blood pressure is a common condition in which the long-


term force of the blood against your artery walls is high enough
that it may eventually cause health problems.

What is hypertension?
The more blood your heart pumps and the narrower your
arteries, the higher your blood pressure.
High blood pressure
generally develops over
many years, and it affects
nearly everyone eventually.
Fortunately, high blood
pressure can be easily
detected. And once you
know you have high blood
pressure, you can work with
your doctor to control it.
According to World Health Organization (WHO) records in 2011,
one billion people in the world suffer from hypertension, two
thirds of whom are in developing countries with low income.
Hypertension has caused the death of around 8 million people
every year 1.5 million deaths occur in Southeast Asia, of which a
third of the population suffers from hypertension. Hypertension
is often referred to as "the silent killer" because it is often
without complaints, so the patient does not know if he has
hypertension but later found himself already complaining of
complications or complications from hypertension.

WHAT SHOULD WE DO TO PREVENT IT ?
• Education about hypertension • Don't be in a hurry
• Clean and healthy life behavior • Avoid fatty foods
• Check blood pressure regularly • Consumption of fish oil
• Maintain ideal body weight • Drink lots of water
• Reduce salt consumption • Eat foods that are
• Don't smoke nutritionally balanced
• Exercise regularly • Conducting relaxation
• Reduce stress therapy
WHAT SHOULD WE DO TO TREAT IT ?
Starting with changing or adopting a healthier lifestyle. Then
consult a doctor . Taking drugs to reduce high blood pressure :
1. Calcium Channel Blocker  amlopidine and nifedipine
2. ACE or Angiotensin Converting Anzyme Inhibitor  captopril
and ramipril
3. ARB or Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker  losartan
and valsartan
4. Beta Blockers  atenolol and bisoprolol.
5. Diuretics  hydrochlorothiazide.
