HYPERTENSION

 Also known as Blood pressure (BP) is the pressure of circulating blood

against the walls of blood vessels. Most of this pressure results from the
heart pumping blood through the circulatory system.
 High blood pressure is often caused by lifestyle factors such as smoking,
being overweight, not exercising enough and eating too much salt.
 It can also be caused by medical conditions, such as diabetes, kidney
disease, or hormonal imbalances.
 It is important to know your blood pressure numbers and to get them
checked regularly.
 Getting your blood pressure under control is important for your health. If
you have been diagnosed with hypertension, it is important to follow
your doctor’s advice and make any necessary lifestyle changes to keep
your blood pressure healthy.
 Blood pressure is usually expressed in terms of the systolic pressure
(maximum pressure during one heartbeat) over diastolic pressure
(minimum pressure between two heartbeats) in the cardiac cycle.
