the Ludwigshafen site.
 It includes an automated tank container
terminal, the world’s largest patented tank
containers as well as an autonomous and
teleoperated vehicle.
 The tank container warehouse will have
two fully automatic cranes, three tracks and
eight loading bays.
 There, liquid chemical goods can be stored
until an operation requires them or the
transport to the customer begins.
 Up to six containers can be stacked and are
always available on demand.
AGV

 The transport from the tank

container warehouse to the
companies is handled by a
driverless transport vehicle. The
technical term is Automated
Guided Vehicle or AGV for short
 BASF and the Dutch VDL Group
have developed the AGV
specifically for use on the factory
premises.
 Its take one hour to deliver goods
VERBUND

 Verbund is defined as the intelligent interlinking of production plants,

energy flows and infrastructure
 BASF has six Verbund sites
 In energy, waste heat from production processes is captured to be used
as energy in other production plants. In 2016 this allowed the
company to save around 19.0 million megawatts per year. That
reduces CO2 emissions by 3.8 million metric tons annually.
 The company's smart manufacturing initiative is working on
predictive maintenance, the use of augmented reality, and even
greater savings in electricity and steam generation.
