INTRODUCTION
Since the synthesis of plastic
in 1907, the use of plastic has been
ever increasing exponentially. Nearly
355 million tons of plastic were
generated in the year 2018 out of
which 8 million tons of plastic waste
ends up in water bodies that are
causing a major threat to the aquatic
life. While advances have been
addressed to waste separation, the
solid waste is still primarily dealt by
manually collecting the debris with
nets, which is clearly not an effective
method to clean up the water bodies.

The various solution which is existing around the globe are
such as “OCEAN CLEAN UP” which was launched in 2018.
The sad news is that while cleaning up the Pacific ocean it
broke down.
So inspired by this, the idea was to build a
sustainable floating garbage bin that could collect the water
borne plastics and trash 24 hours a day with minimal human
interference . The bin which we plan to do will be anchored
to the shore and consists of a water pump. This pump helps
to create suction so that the floating debris gets collected
inside the bin while passing through the mesh provided.
Overtime the project could evolve into comprehensive
technology and a better solution for the cleaner water
bodies.

Objectives
• To minimize the human efforts made to collect the
rubbish from the water bodies around us.
• To make the working of the system simple and viable.

Methodology
• Case study on various methods of waste
collection in water bodies.
• Referring many alternative method of
elimination from water bodies, through
research and patent papers.
• Then, through the data collected from
different sources and applying it to optimize
the existing “SEABIN”.
• Using the relevant software for obtaining
the CAD model.

Possible Outcomes
• Minimum or no human effort in order to clean the water
bodies.
• Saves aquatic life and also provides clean environment.
• Creates massive public awareness on the use of plastics
which are a major threat to the environment.
• Eliminates BIO-MAGNIFICATION.
• Use of this system helps maintain the water bodies which
attract many tourists.
