ADJECTIVE
• Adjectives are
descriptive words used
to “modify” or tell more
about nouns and
pronouns…
• Without colorful and
Presenting a blue car, a red
precise adjectives,
car and a light brown car…
language would be
pretty blah!
An Adjective tells about

a person a place

an animal a thing
An Adjective
answers the question “What kind?”

The small boy is walking.


This is a big farm.
The brown cow was on the farm.
This is a funny book.

and Shapes
Did you see the gray kitten?
I love red strawberries.
Did you see my yellow duck?
The round sun is in the sky.
The food is in a square bag.
Some adjectives tell about

Size
This is a small bunny.
T-Rex has a short neck.

T-Rex has a big legs.

T-Rex has a long tail.

T-Rex has a huge head.


We can use more than one
adjective before a noun.

There is usually one correct


order.
e.g.
1. It’s beautiful sunny weather.

2. John has a big brown dog.

We order adjectives according to
their meaning.

CONJUNCTION
• A conjunction is a short
joining word, such as “and, or,
but, for, so & yet.”
• The main function of a
conjunction is to join words,
phrases and clauses together:
• Slowly and carefully
• A red hat and a white shirt
• He had no ticket, but he went
anyway.
INTERJECTION
• An interjection is a
word (or words) of
shock or surprise.
• It is usually used by
itself and is followed by
an exclamation point.
“Watch out! Where’d this
• Examples are: Wow!,
rocket come from???” Cool!, Awesome! and
so on…
