BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
 The main goal of this thesis is to determine the effectiveness of
having police visibility in a community
 To know if it helps to reduce crime rate
 To know what crime is rampant in a community
 To understand the importance of police visibility in an area
 Types of police visibility
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The study would like to answer the following


questions:

1. How police visibility helps to reduce crime ?

2. How psychological fear affects the reduction of crime ?

3. What area where police are needed ?

4. What are the common barangay ordinances violated by


residence ?

5. What crime is rampant in an area ?


SCOPE AND LIMITATION

Scope :
• The focused of the study is only on the importance of
police visibility in barangay 192 zone17 tondo, manila
city

Limitations:
• The study will not cover other problems that are not
related to the topic
• The respondents of this study is only the residence of
the said area
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The study would be beneficial to the following:

 The Criminology Students - Future police officers

 The Researchers - Future researchers

 The Community- The study will give good information

to the public
DEFINITION OF TERMS

1. CRIMINOLOGY- The scientific study of crime as a social


phenomenon, of criminals, and of penal treatment .
2. COMMUNITY- Is a group of people living in the same place or having
a particular characteristic in common.
3. CRIME- An action or omission that constitute an offense that may be
prosecuted by the state and is punishable by law and illegal activities.
4. LAW ENFORCEMENT- Is any enforcement and any system by which
some members of society act in an organized manner to enforce the law
by discovering, deterring, rehabilitating, or punishing people who violated
the rules and norms governing that society.
5. LAW ENFORCER-A body of government employees trained in
methods of law enforcement and crime prevention and detection and
authorized to maintain the peace, safety and order of the community
6. RAMPANT- Used to described something that is very common or
that is spreading very quickly and in a way that is difficult to control

Synthesis
 The literature and studies reviewed and
presented provided the researchers
understanding on how to go about the present
study. Though, there were limited resources for
both related literature and studies. It is hoped
that the conduct of this study will paved the way
for more studies. As stated by Manwong (2008),
the patrol operations provide continuous police
service and high visibility of law enforcement and
it is the most vital component of police work. In
fact, in organizing the police organization, patrol is
considered the skeletal foundation. It is the
backbone of the department.
Methodology
This chapter is a presentation of the
research design, the method of data
collection, the respondents, sampling
techniques, the statistical tools for data
analysis.
Research Instrument
 The principal data-gathering instrument of
the study is a questionnaire equipped
with the knowledge and information
gained from look and related studies. The
instrument was prepared following
criteria for its construction.
STATISTICAL ANALYSIS
 The researchers used percentage Weighted
Mean and Four Point liker scale. These statistical
tools were utilized to treat data gathered on
the effectiveness of the (Police Visibility) in
Barangay 192 Zone 17, Tondo,Manila City.
