INTRODUCTION :
• LIC Housing Finance Limited (LIC HFL) is one of the largest Housing Finance Mortgage
loan companies in India having its Registered and Corporate office at Mumbai. LIFE
INSURANCE CORPORATION OF INDIA holds founder, promoter & controller status.
LIC HFL is associate/subsidiary company of LIC of India.
• LIC HFL Company since 1989. The main objective of the Company is to provide long
term finance to individuals for purchase or construction of house or flat for
residential purpose / repair and renovation of existing flat / houses. The Company
also provides finance on existing property for business / personal needs and also
gives loans to professionals for purchase / construction of Clinics / Nursing Homes /
Diagnostic Centers / Office Space and also for purchase of equipment's. The Company
also provides long term finance to persons engaged in the business of construction of
houses or flats for residential purpose and to be sold by them.

HISTORY
The company was incorporated on June 19, 1989, under the Companies Act, 1956. It is
promoted by Life Insurance Corporation of India and went public in the year 1994. The
maiden global depository receipt (GDR) issue was launched in 2004.[3] The Authorized
Capital of the Company is Rs.1500 Million (Rs.150 Crores) and its paid-up Capital is
Rs.1009.9 Million ( Rs.100.99 Crores). The Company is registered with National Housing
Bank and listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) & Bombay Stock Exchange
Limited (BSE) and its shares are traded only in Demat format.

OPERATIONS
In FY-2019, It has 9 regional offices, 23 back-offices and 273 marketing Offices
across India. [2] It also has 2 foreign offices in Kuwait and Dubai to cater to the
Non-Resident Indians in the Persian Gulf countries covering Bahrain, Dubai,
Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Its coverage of more than 450 centres.
Company also has more than 12000 marketing intermediaries or agents to
guide through the loan processes. It also has online home loan approvals
facility through its website www.lichousing.com

Listing: The equity shares of LIC HFL
are listed on Bombay Stock
Exchange and the National Stock Shareholders (as on 31

Shareholding: On 31 March 2016,
40.31% of the equity shares of the Mutual Funds 10.12%
company were owned by LIC. the Individual shareholders 09.32%
Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) Bodies Corporate 03.47%
held approx. 32% of the shares.
Around 158,000 individual public Insurance companies 02.08%
shareholders own approx. 9% of its GDRs 00.16%
shares. The remaining 18% shares are Others 02.09%
owned by others.

HOUSING POLICY
• LIC Housing Finance Ltd (LICHFL), the housing finance arm of state-owned
Life Insurance Corp. of India (LIC), plans to enter the retirement home business
with the launch of two projects in Bhubaneswar and Jaipur.
• Every year, LICHFL plans to develop housing projects for senior citizens who
are 50 years and above in age. The first project at Bhubaneswar is at the
approval stage
• The company, which has acquired 7 acres and 5 acres of land in Bhubaneswar
and Jaipur, respectively, will launch one such project in each state every year.
The cities will be selected on the basis of their demography.
• They would select only those cities that have significant population in that age
bracket. For instance, Kolkata is such a city.
• Places of pilgrimage such as Rishikesh or Haridwar could also be of interest as
these attract the elderly in huge numbers. However, capital cities will be the first
choice.

• Prior to the announcement of this plan, the firm developed such a project in Bangalore
that was launched in 2006.
• This is not an activity under any corporate social responsibility, but it is a fully
commercial venture.
• Apart from the sale value, buyers are charged Rs1,500 per month for amenities.
• Spread over 7 acres, the Bengaluru project houses 98 units with community facilities.
• Between 600 sq. ft and 800 sq. ft in size, the units were sold at Rs6-8 lakh. The pricing
for the upcoming projects has not been decided, but it will be quite reasonable.
• These homes are economically packaged to service the old around healthcare,
hospitality and wellness.
• The homes will come with monthly charges that will pay for specialized services for its
residents.

• LICHFL Care Homes Limited developed spare vacant land at Bangalore campus
