Simple Machines on a

Playground

Wedge
• There are many wedges on a playground.
• Every nail holding pieces of wood together are examples of wedges.
• A shovel is also a wedge.
Fulcrum and Lever
• A seesaw is a perfect example of a fulcrum and lever.
Pulley
• Flagpoles are found on many playgrounds. They use pulleys at the top
to raise and lower the flag.
Inclined Plane
• A slide is an example of an inclined plane.
Screw
• Screws are used to hold playground equipment together. They are
also examples of simple machines.
