What is Microsoft OneNote?
DEFINITION

Microsoft OneNote is a digital notebook program for gathering information and multi-user
collaboration. It can be used to take notes, draw ideas, and insert audio and video.

Getting Started
To start, type ”Google” into your search bar to find a link to Microsoft OneNote.

How to create an account
The direct website for OneNote will appear. Click “SIGN IN” if you have a Microsoft account, or “SIGN UP” to create one.
Note: You are able to sign in using a Google Gmail account as well.

How to create a new notebook
Once you have logged in successfully to OneNote, a section titled “Notebooks” will
appear. Below you will find ”My Notebooks” and click “+ New”

How to create a Notebook
Creating a Notebook name is an essential part of organizing your notes.
Name the Notebook to match its content and select “Create”.

Add sections and pages within notebook
To begin taking notes select “+ Section” to create a tab within the notebook.
Select “+ Page” to add different pages within the section of the notebook.
*Both tabs are located on the bottom left hand corner of the notebook panel

How to share notebook
Select “Share” in upper right hand corner. The settings can be changed to enable or disable editing.

Adding a Microsoft form within OneNote

• One can insert a Microsoft form into


OneNote to survey or quiz students.
• Select “Insert” and click “Forms”.
• Sign into Microsoft forms.
• From there, create a form and insert it onto
a page within the notebook.
