DMADV
is a process defined as part of
their Six Sigma management
philosophy. It is applied to
new processes to make
sure that they achieve
Six Sigma quality.

1. DEFINE
State the problem, specify the customer set,
identify the goals, and outline the target process.

2. MEASURE
Decide what parameters need to be quantified,
work out the best way to measure them, collect
the necessary data, and carry out the measurements
by experiment.
3. ANALYZE
Identify performance goals and determine
how process inputs are likely to affect process
outputs.

4. DESIGN
Identify performance goals and determine
how process inputs are likely to affect process
outputs.
5. VERIFY
Check the design to be sure it was set up
according to plan, conduct trials of the processes
to make sure that they work, and begin production
or sales.
DMAIC
is a data-driven quality
strategy used to improve
processes. It is an integral part of
a Six Sigma initiative, but in
general can be implemented as a
standalone quality improvement
procedure or as part of other
process improvement
initiatives such as lean.

1. Leadership
Role of Leaders:
• Setting improvement goals
• Establish infrastructure
• Appoint Champions
• Support projects and monitor progress
• Provide organizational support
• Become educated and receive training of Six Sigma
2. Champion
Project Champions (Sponsors) are the managers of the business,
function, or value stream which has been identified as high priority for
a Six Sigma team.
Role of Champions:
• Identifies improvement that meet strategic goals
• Responsible for creating a project charter
• Promotes and supports projects
• Sponsor of the projects
• Understand the Six Sigma Methodology
3. Master Black Belt (MBB)
These individuals work with the deployment leader to achieve the
former. They also lead the development of the Six Sigma skills in
the organization, for Black Belts, Green Belts, and the general
associate base.
Role of MBB:
• Assistant and advisor to Champions
• Support Black Belts
• Spread expertise about Six Sigma
4. Black Belt (BB)

These individuals have tactical responsibility for executing


specific projects and ensuring that the results are captured,
the changes are owned by the Champions (Sponsors), and the
changes are sustained.
Role of Black Belts:
• Generally full-time person for Six Sigma projects
• Train and educate Green Belts and Yellow Belts
• Communicate with Champions
5. Green Belt (GB)

These individuals are responsible for scoping the projects, leading


the project team, calling for help when needed, managing interfaces
with business leaders, and ensuring sustainable results.
Role of Green Belts:
• Part-time team member
• Drive less complex projects
• Understand basic working knowledge for Six Sigma projects
• Works under guidance of Black Belts.
6.Yellow Belt (YB)

These individuals are responsible for the quality of the work and
results.
This team also plays the critical role of translating the process
gains from Six Sigma to other areas of the business after the
specific project has been completed.
Role of Yellow Belts:
• Part-time team member
• Provides supporting roles
• Helps in data collection, validation and monitoring
effectiveness
• Basic understanding of analytical tools
