For
PROTEINS
Broken down into small peptides and amino acid before absorption
ENZYMES INVOLVED:
Proteolytic Enzymes - cleaves protein into smaller enzymes
Carboxypeptidase - splits an amino acid one at a time
Amino peptidase and dipeptidase - free the end amino acid
LIPIDS
Are degraded into fatty acids and glycerol
ENZYMES INVOLVED
Pancreatic Lipase - breaks down triglycerides into free fatty acids and mono glycerol
Bile salts- attaches to triglycerides and emulsify them
CARBOHYDRATE
S
ENZYMES INVOLVED
Pancreatic Amylase - breaks down carbohydrates into oligosaccharides
Dextrinase and glucoamylase - further breaks down oligosaccharide

CONCLUSION
• In this experiment though we weren’t able to perform it due
to lack of time loosely basing on theoretical results we
conclude that: chemical digestion is essential for breaking
down food into small particles for it to be easily
absorbed.Without the digestive enzymes chemical digestion
would not occur.Pancreatin enzymes help break down fats,
proteins and carbohydrate. In terms of Oil the pancreatic
enzymes can’t break it up. Bile helps with digestion
especially fats. It breaks down fats into fatty acids, which can
be taken into the body by the digestive tract it makes it more
watery and easier for it to be absorbed .Therefor in the tubes
with oil and enzyme its is most likely to be immiscible with
one another and for the tubes with oil and bile the oil will
most likely become solubilised
LEARNING
EVALUATION
The pancreas secretes a large amount of digestive enzymes after a m
a. Pepsinogen is the chief enzyme which digest protein and requires the
removal of peptide sequence from the active cleft before it can work
b. Pancreatic amylase will hydrolyse stretch to free glucose
c. Enteropeptidase converts trypsinogen to trypsin by cleavage of a
peptide sequence that blocks active site of trypsin
d. Pancreatic secretion of HCl is required to proved the correct pH for
maximal pancreatic enzyme in duodenum
Enteropeptidase starts the cascade of activation of
pancreatic peptidases/proteases. It is important that the
pancreas produces inactive enzymes in zymogen
granules so that auto-digestion of the pancreas does not
occur. If it did, it would lead to fulminant necrosis of the
pancreas. The other answers contain errors of fact.
